Ophthalmology Technician
Our ideal candidate with 1-3 years' experience, is patient focused and possesses a sensitive - caring personality along with Ophthalmology experience and assisting our physicians with various types of Ophthalmology testing procedures and other assigned duties with offices located in the Northwest Chicago Suburbs.
Summary: Suburban Retina, LTD is a patient-centered medical surgical practice and this position provides Ophthalmology care and assists the physicians and assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care rendered to patients with urgent, emergent or potential health problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Assists physicians and ensure maximum efficiency and perform preliminary screenings.
Records health history of patients along with updated medication list and notes abnormal conditions for our physicians.
Contacts the pharmacy or optical companies to order or refill prescriptions as instructed by our physicians and document appropriately.
Schedule patients for surgery and in office appointments, follow-up and obtain necessary precertification.
Schedule patients to other specialist offices and obtain appropriate referrals as needed.
Maintain adequate stock levels of medication samples and supplies.
Set-up and stock exam rooms for daily use.
Keep rooms and equipment clean between procedures.
Follow health center policies for infection control in handling and disposing of infectious hazardous waste.
Prepare patients for exams and diagnostic testing.
Ensure patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely manner.
Keep physicians informed of patient's status.
Return phone calls from patients in a timely manner as per physician instructions and document appropriately.
SECONDARY
Responsibilities:
Ability to calibrate and maintain all diagnostic equipment.
Prepare surgery packs and surgical kits, label appropriately.
Adhere to Quality Control Guidelines, including all reports.
Perform other tasks as needed.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
