N/A Function / Position Summary The mission of the Department of School & Community Relations is to drive timely, accurate, and relevant communication via various outreach methods across multiple platforms.
The Digital Communications Specialist will join the District's award-winning School & Community Relations team to help strengthen the District's digital presence with video production, photography, radio, and podcasts.
As a member of the School and Community Relations team, the ideal candidate must be an excellent writer and strategic thinker who knows how to showcase the best work of our District, from rigorous and equitable classroom instruction to accomplishments of students and staff.
This versatile digital communications specialist might also be called on to help support web and social media work and assist during crisis situations.
Flexibility in hours required - some night and weekend responsibilities.
Will be required to leave the main work site to support District communications and provide professional development and training.
Job Duties / Responsibilities Develop and lead projects and campaigns to showcase the best innovative education initiatives across our District and schools on digital and other platforms.
Plans and produces videos, photography, images and graphics highlighting the District and school initiatives.
Maintain the District's radio station equipment and ensure compliance with FCC rules and regulations.
Fosters brand ownership, identity and loyalty among staff and District leadership.
Provides standards and guidelines for consistent and appropriate use of video, photography and brand assets.
Research and help implement best-emerging communications technology to support communication among and with teachers, staff, students, and families, such as webinars, blogs, and podcasts.
Assist with monitoring of the District's internal and external websites for 55 schools and various departments and programs, as well as social media channels.
Collaborate with team and District staff members to support communication efforts (newsletters, presentations, training, employee relations, crisis communication and communication plans).
Support team in identifying communication and public relations emerging trends.
Support special events, town halls, and other District events as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Education Bachelor's degree with major coursework in digital production, photography and video production and editing, digital marketing, public relations or strategic communications, or any combination of experience and training which will provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Experience & Knowledge Excellent written and verbal skills are a must Knowledge of AP style Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and Google Drive Strong video production and editing skills Photography skills Familiar with radio programming, production and broadcast operations Basic graphic design skills Knowledge and understanding of public education goals and objectives Self-starter who demonstrates the ability to build relationships, coach and support District staff and volunteers Strong organizational and time-management skills with an ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment Ability to use traditional, current, advanced, and emerging communication and technology tools Ability to work independently with limited supervision as well in a team setting Bilingual Spanish/English written & verbal preferred Physical Demands Ability to work on a computer over a major portion of the workday.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Salary and benefits are as established by the Board of Education.
